Secretarul general al NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, a declarat miercuri că alianţa „nu a observat nicio detensionare pe teren”, deşi Rusia a anunţat că şi-a retras o parte din trupele de la frontierele Ucrainei, transmit dpa şi Reuters.
„Dimpotrivă, se pare că Rusia continuă concentrarea militară. Ce observăm este că şi-au mărit numărul de militari şi că mai mulţi militari sunt pe drum”, a declarat Stoltenberg presei.
Secretarul general a arătat că deplasările de trupe şi tancuri sunt o practică uzuală. „Dacă într-adevăr (ruşii – n. red.) încep să îşi retragă militarii, va fi ceva binevenit. (…) Şi-au deplasat întotdeauna forţele încoace şi încolo, aşa că doar observarea unor deplasări ale forţelor sau ale tancurilor nu confirmă o retragere reală”.
În replică, purtătorul de cuvânt al Kremlinului, Dmitri Peskov, a declarat că analiza făcută de NATO cu privire la mişcările de trupe ruseşti în apropiere de Ucraina este greşită, transmite dpa.
Peste două zile va avea loc o reuniune a miniştrilor apărării din ţările membre NATO, iar Stoltenberg a precizat că alianţa va continua să monitorizeze situaţia şi să insiste pentru diplomaţie.
