Delegaţia României şi-a depăşit obiectivul la ediţia din acest an a Campionatului European de gimnastică artistică, bifând un total de patru medalii la competiţia găzduită în această săptămână de Sala Polivalentă din Cluj.
După ce, sâmbătă, Marian Drăgulescu a bifat titlul continental la proba de sol, România a mai obţinut, duminică, alte trei medalii.
Marian Drăgulescu a făcut dubla, după ce a obţinut şi argintul în finala de la sărituri. Drăgulescu a fost depăşit în această probă doar de Artur Dalaloyan, sportiv care, la 21 de ani, este marea speranţă a Rusiei.
Deşi am avut doar două finaliste la feminin, şi ambele în proba de bârnă, Cătălina Ponor şi Larisa Iordache şi-au făcut pe deplin datoria. Mai mult, la 30 de ani, Cătălina a dominat proba de o manieră categorică.
Ponor a avut, la finalul competiţiei, o jumătate de punct avans faţă de olandeza Eythora Thorsdottir şi 0,6 puncte avans faţă de Larisa Iordache.
Intrată în competiţie cu obiectiv de 2-3 medalii, România şi-a depăşit planul, dar nu trebuie să uităm că grosul medaliilor a fost adus de sportivi care au trecut cu mult peste prima tinereţe, iar viitorul gimnasticii româneşti se anunţă sumbru.
